Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an adaptogenic herb with a long history in Ayurvedic medicine, commonly used for stress management, sleep support, and general well-being. Most clinical studies use 300–600mg per day of a root extract, with KSM-66 and Sensoril being the two most widely researched branded forms. KSM-66 is a root-only extract standardized to 5% withanolides, while Sensoril is a root-and-leaf extract standardized to 10% withanolides. Plain root powder products use higher weights (1000–2000mg) but are less concentrated than standardized extracts. Ashwagandha is available as capsules, powders, gummies, and liquid tinctures.
